Did my usual walk around the City before my allotted time in the afternoon, making sure to see the poppies at The Tower on the way. Having been blown to pieces wandering around the East End for hours in blustering wind and showers it was a great delight to see the sun breaking out occassionally on the vast swathes of red around the moat. It's an overwhelming sight, reminding me ironically of of a previous exhibition at the Tate - the Ai Weiwei Sunflower Seeds, both having the same mind boggling parallel in trying to comprehend infinity on a human scale!
Hope you enjoy a small selection of the many snaps I took along the way ...................
I am completely awestruck by the 'Walkie-Talkie'. Its sheer volume (no pun intended) overpowering all around it.
I think The Shard is pretty impressive as well. It captures the ambient lighting superbly and you can photograph it from pretty much anywhere!
Cranes wherever you look
And finally - Full marks for the originality of this parked on the embankment!
